Anybody remember The Archies? How about Ohio Express? Not a lot of today's music is worse than "Yummy Yummy Yummy".
C'mon OG I'm not talking about that crap ! The Archies ? I just don't like most of the new music today,it all sounds the same IMHO.I'm talking about vintage Bands like, PINK FLOYD,Jimi Hendrix,The Doors,The Who,Santana,Deep Purple,Iron Butterfly,The Grateful Dead,The Rolling Stones,ZZ Top,Emerson Lake & Palmer,Lynryd Skynryd,Eric Clapton,The Moody Blues,Bad Company,Genesis,Steely Dan,Journey, and especially Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. Just a small example of the Vintage Music I think sounds great on my Altecs. IMHO
You can pick music today like the Archies there is plenty to go around in any era.. :wink2:
BTW: You left out Sugar,Sugar one of my all time favorite Archie tunes ...:biggrin2: :tongue2:

Re: OT: How are they doing this?
There's an incredible amount of good new music. It's just not found in the same old places. Mass medium has become tedium.
Re: OT: How are they doing this?
Maybe I should have explained a little differently.I like some new music just very little. Back in the day it just seemed to be more plentiful me thinks.

You got good taste. But you left out Neil Young, Janis, and Velvet Underground. :)
Re: OT: How are they doing this?
Here is Glen Miller by Andre Rieu Royal Albert Hall 2008. I know that after speaking to a technician working with him that they used Ampex analogue 24 track .That was back in 2006.

Re: OT: How are they doing this?
Convergence what is your point? plenty of good work has been done on analog. Plenty of good work has been done digital. I fail to see what posting recordings at random does?
You are more than welcome to use any gear you like. As is anybody else. Why so insistent that everybody like what you like?
Differences are what makes the world go round.
Re: OT: How are they doing this?
I don't think many of today's singers would sound good 'au naturel'. I don't mean naked.
Re: OT: How are they doing this?
Probably true, but good engineers and producers have been "juicing up" singer's voices for years. The bag of tricks isn't new, just some of the tricks in it. ;)
